Awards and Grants

Prof. Dr. Michael Boutros (University Hospital, Heidelberg) has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and member of the University Hospital Board with effect from 01 October 2023.

Prof. Soni Savai Pullamsetti (Justus Liebig University, Giessen) is a new member of the prestigious Leopoldina. The National Academy of Sciences thus honours her achievements in strategic treatment approaches for various lung diseases.

Dr. Daniel Reichart (Ludwig-Maximilians-University clinic, Munich) has received funding for his research within the scope of the Emmy Noether Programme.

Dr. Felix Hartmann (German Cancer Research Centre, Heidelberg) has received funding from the European Research Council for his research into the metabolic states of cancer and immune cells in cancer immunotherapy.

Dr. Maik Pietzner (Berlin Institute of Health, Charité Berlin) has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant of 1.5 million euros over 5 years for his research project GenDrug.

Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Sigler (University Hospital, Göttingen) has been awarded a grant of €96,800.00 by the Deutsche Herzstiftung e.V./Deutsche Stiftung für Herzforschung for his research into the Melody heart valve prosthesis.

Dr. Kristin Kräker (Max Delbrück Center, Berlin) receives the American Heart Association's 2023 Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award for an abstract submitted to the Hypertension Scientific Sessions 2023.

Prof. Renate Schnabel (University clinic, Hamburg-Eppendorf) gave the Geoffrey Rose Lecture on Population Sciences at the ESC Congress 2023 in Amsterdam.

Dr Alessia Lena and Dr Markus Anker from the Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the German Heart Institute Charité (DHZC) have been awarded the German Heart Foundation's Wilhelm P. Winterstein Prize (10,000 euros) for their findings on the diagnosis and therapy of tumour-related heart disease.

On August 1, 2023, Sofia Forslund (Charitè - Universitätsmedizin Berlin) will take up a W3 Professorship in Applied Microbiology at Charité.
