The call aims to fund projects that develop new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of cardiovascular disease and drive these forward towards clinical application. The projects should strengthen the DZHK's current scientific Focus Areas and contribute to improving patient care.

Applications may be submitted by state and state-recognised universities as well as non-university research institutions outside the DZHK. The call is aimed at institutions that are not member institutions of the DZHK. Interdisciplinary research consortia with a translational focus may be submitted.

Up to three research consortia can be funded, with a duration of up to four years. Selection takes place in a two-stage procedure. Project outlines can be submitted until 27 July 2026.

The full funding guideline, information on the funding conditions, and the application documents are available on the websites of the DLR Project Management Agency and the BMFTR.
